Critique:
I sent through my previous posters to Matt for a critique before tomorrow's class, he said -
- Make sure that while they look different they communicate the same message
- I like the way you are exploring graphic representations of the eye over laying the actual photographs. While this concept could be evolved further it does have potential.
- The type still needs a bit more clarity
- The pencil could be a nice touch
- At present the colours are very heavy almost oppressive. You want it to look uplifting, empowering and inspiring.
From here:
I am going to continue developing these from this critique.
I will use Matt's feedback and see what I can create from this, thinking about making it more empowering and maybe searching some empowering colour schemes and artist presidents.
I will also work further on the eyes and the wording on my posters.
Defining type:
The use of these words as Matt suggested now ties my two posters back into the theme and the tight idea of literacy being a right not a privilege and celebrating New Zealand's equal education system by making everyone attend and learn schooling.
Working on eyes:
This in contrast already feels much more subtle and interesting with the eyes having different shades of green and being toned down a lot from the original.
Researching better colour schemes:

After reading these ideas I should be moving away from the blues and bringing in lighter 'cheerier' colours.
Colour scheme examples -
Applying some different colour schemes:
This colour scheme seems like something more of a brochure advertising a company, not a poster that needs to stand out above the rest.
This poster colour scheme is looking a lot more educational and informative, the colours are calm and clear with the red popping out over the rest.
This second poster is calm and nice, the colour scheme presents the ideas of the posters well and as viewers you read and understand this poster well.
With this the colour of the outlines almost stand out over the text which creates a visual hierarchy where you look at the children first then react to their happy faces and want to know more so read the key text.
Final refinements:
As a series these two posters look really well together and individually, although they both have different styles to them they fit together and have the same idea behind them.
Printed to full scale:
These two posters beside one another look nicely and do express the ideas and concepts surrounding education equality in New Zealand. I am happy with how they are both looking at this point and are hoping class critiques tomorrow go really well and there are only minor changes needed to perfect the two posters.
